Since Adidas launched its flagship sneaker range in 1984, the Forum 84 sneakers have been a staple. During 2021 and 2022, Adidas wasn’t holding any of its punches, pushing out a ton of new collaborations and styles. While that has calmed down, the range is far from forgotten. Adidas released some official images for the Forum 84 Hi “Closer Look”, and they look like an 8-bit video game true to the period when the sneakers first launched.

Adidas Forum 84 Hi “Closer Look”
These sneakers combine off-white and multiple shades of blue on a spectrum from light to dark. Talking about the details of these sneakers would be a disservice because the details are purposefully obscured by the design of the sneakers.

Starting from the top, we see that the only hard lines for colour are the collar lining, the laces, the midsole and the outsole. Besides that, everything else is a wonderous 8-bit blur, a wonderful homage to the gaming style of the late 80s.
While the classic three lines of the branding and the trefoil have been included in the construction rather than the actual colourway, with the trefoil debossed on the lateral side of the sneaker’s upper.
The “Closer Look” part comes in with the so-called “detail” because the patterns of the upper look like a picture of what the adidas Forum 84 is meant to look like, but super zoomed-in, completely pixelating the picture.
The pixels are where the shoe is getting its 8-bit video game reputation from because the sneakers look like an old game trying to render the details, but the large pixels are as far as it gets.
From there, the off-white of the laces and the midsole complement the super light blue of most of the upper. In contrast, the darker blue of the outsole is present again on the semi-mudguard.
The only accurate detail visible on the sneakers is the actual construction, the debossed trefoil on the ankle, and the embossed adidas and trefoil on the midsole.
The distinct lines of the construction complement the blurred idea of the pixels so well that the sneaker has a funky retro feel that is perfect for the Forum 84 line.

Release Date and Price
While there was technically a release date set for the 16th of May, that date has come and gone without seeing any more details about these sneakers. Unfortunately, this will often happen in the sneaker world because of manufacturing issues or loading the sneakers onto sites and them selling out too quickly, so we will have to sit tight for a little. At the same time, we are waiting for a new confirmed official release date and price on adidas.com.
That being said, having official images usually means that brands are getting ready to launch their products; we can keep our fingers crossed that we will see these sneakers soon.

TL;DR
- Adidas has recently released official images for their latest Forum 84 Hi “Closer Look” colourway.
- The sneakers seem inspired but a super zoomed-in image, or at the very least, a retro 8-bit video game.
- The sneakers still need to be an official release date or sale price.
