2021 was the year of the freak, where adidas launched the latest generation of football boots, the Predator Freak. Starting the year off with a bang for the next generation of Predator, the brand announced the adidas Predator Edge range.
adidas South Africa hosted a football event at Fives Futbol in Balfour Park, Johannesburg to launch the new Predator Edge boots. The event was attended by some of South Africa’s football stars, with VIPs being some of the brightest, local female footballers.
These footballers recently joined the roster as adidas athletes. This includes the trio, Jessica Wade, Lelona Dewati and Kanenelo Taiwe. They were joined by other adidas ambassadors, such as Ronwen Williams, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Vincent Pule and the young Boitumelo Radiopane. The focus of the event was to create lasting change for women in sport. Additionally, it was used to enhanced support for established and emerging athletes and grassroots programmes.

These players took to the field to demonstrate their skills while showcasing the all-new adidas Predator Edge boots.
The Predator edge boots feature state of the art technology. This includes the new Zone Skin – a breakthrough fabric technology on the upper of the boot. It has been specifically designed to support enhanced swerve, spin and grip of the boots.
It also includes strategically placed, rubberised ribs. These are divided into four control zones on the boots’ insteps and toe boxes. This tech is used to optimise ball manipulation on the field of play.
The original Predator boots were first launched all the way back in 1994. It has a long history of classic moments in football and worn by some of the most iconic players in the game’s history. This includes stars such as David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Zinedine Zidane. For the current generation, the Predator Edge will be promoted by adidas football ambassadors, including Paul Pogba, David Alaba and star English forward Toni Duggan.
