Last week adidas revealed its Star Wars X adidas Alphaedge 4D sneaker, a few weeks ahead of the film’s cinema release. Unfortunately, for South Africans looking to get their hands on a pair, it was confirmed that the sneaker wouldn’t be coming to our shores. The good news today, however, is that adidas has announced a different variant of the 4D sneaker, the adidas Alphaedge 4D in a new reflective colourway.
The adidas 4D features a distinctive 3D printed design, with the latest concept of the FUTURECRAFT range in a reflective upper. The silhouette is still largely based off the innovative tech announced in 2017.
adidas has partnered with California-based company Carbon to create the new midsole printed with light and oxygen using the Carbon Digital Light SynthesisTM technology. By using years of collected athlete data, adidas and Carbon created the ultimate silhouette wit huge benefits for both athletes and the everyday consumer, allowing them to ‘feel the future’. The creation process provides a unique solution, which can be tuned precisely to respond to the wearer’s movements, weight and gait during each stride. This provides the most comfort to the wearer, with a personalised touch, which adidas aims to expand upon, specific to a given person and sport, in the near future.
The overall result is a silhouette that is both lightweight and adaptable. The upper on the Alphaedge 4D is made of a super-lightweight prime knit with a seamless, sock-like construction and reflective finish. The silhouette is printed, millimetre by millimetre with FORGEFIBER, the process using TPU-coated yarn stitched at various angles and layers to maximise performance. adidas has continued its partnership with Continental, providing the rubber outsole, which draws upon their 140 years of experience in tyre technology. The sneaker has been engineered with traction zones to support faster acceleration, irrespective of the terrain or weather.
The adidas Alphaedge 4D with its reflective finish will be available from 16th November 2019. The sneaker will be available online at adidas.co.za, as well as the adidas Sandton store. It will retail for R4,999.
