In December, adidas launched its latest Ultraboost to the South African market. The adidas Ultraboost 22 was released with new enhancements over its predecessor, the most important of which was the new design for the women’s variant. Now, the brand has announced the running shoe will be available in two new colours for men and women.

The sneaker was designed with the oceans in mind, which includes a mix of elements. The outsole is crafted from Continental natural rubber, while the upper is made from at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic.
A key changes to the approach of the Ultraboost 22’s release was the design of the women’s shoe. It was designed by an all-women team, providing runners with a 4% additional energy return over the previous iteration. The design approach includes a 360-degree fit improvement for the female foot. This included over 1.2 million foot scans to analyse key requirements for the construction.
Earlier this month, I also reviewed the new adidas Ultraboost 22. With all-round improvements, it made for enhanced running with a lighter but more robust feel, along with a bouncier midsole for that supreme energy return.

The running shoe features enhanced energy return thanks to its new upper and LEP torsion system, which combine with the Boost midsole for a 4% increase.
Its LEP system, or Linear Energy Push, is an evolution of the older torsion system. It works in harmony with the midsole for better responsiveness during your run.
360° fit improvement based on the female anatomy: the fit is based on a new last built on female anatomical insights. It reflects a narrower heel, a lower instep and keeps the unique S-curve heel. It is designed to work in harmony with the heel counter to let the Achilles tendon move more freely.
The adidas Ultraboost 22 is available online at adidas.co.za for R3,599.
It is also available in-store at adidas Concept stores countrywide, as well as selected retailers.
