A few weeks ago, adidas Running continued their partnership with the adidas UltraBOOST Parley, a running shoe made almost entirely from recycled plastic. The teams have once again joined forces to update the range with the new adidas UltraBOOST Parley and UltraBOOST X.
The joint venture was established a few years back, inspired by the fragility of the oceans. Parley, already playing a major part in cleaning up and recycling tons of the ocean’s plastic, created, along with adidas, the Parley Ocean Plastic™, which forms the base of the UltraBOOST’s Primeknit upper’s material. 95% of the shoe has been constructed by the recycled material, which equates to approximately 11 plastic bottles – bottles that could potentially be littered in our oceans. The two new silhouettes fuse performance-oriented footwear technology with progressive eco-innovation. These high-performance, high-purpose UltraBOOST products prove two companies’ commitment to tackling the major threats one step at a time.
Last week Saturday, 9 June 2018, saw the kick-off for the global Run For The Oceans campaign, which joins running communities across the globe, encouraging runners to partner with adidas and Partner to save the oceans. The campaign runs until 8 July 2018, to support the Parley Plastic Program. adidas will match every kilometre run with $1 for the first one million kilometres for runners who sign up via the Runtastic app.
The new range of adidas UltraBOOST Parley and UltraBOOST X running shoes is available in a range of colourways the silhouettes. The shoes are available at adidas online and adidas concept stores from 27 June 2018. They carry a retail price starting from R2999 – R3499. To join the movement download the Runtastic app to track each step between 8 June and 8 July, or visit adidas.co.za/parley for more details.
