adidas has been collaborating with some of South Africa’s most up and coming designers. We’ve previously seen Rich Mnisi collaborating with the brand, with Thebe Magugu taking up the mantle a few months later. The brand has once again partnered with Magugu for the duo’s second drop. The adidas X Thebe Magugu collection brings with it a new style as part of the FW22 range.

adidas X Thebe Magugu Link Up for Second Collaboration

South African luxury designer Thebe Magugu is already a proven partner for adidas. This second collection has been inspired by unbridled joy and freedom. As such, the drop features the iconic Bird of Paradise Plant print. It has been brought to life in a vivid palette, featuring bold colours and graphic accents.

These colours and styles celebrate Magugu’s culture, upbringing and identity. The collection spans across a variety of pieces, including apparel, sneakers and accessories to match. These pieces were designed across various sport and lifestyle functions. This includes training, yoga and a night out on the town.

The graphics element across the range is Thebe Magugu’s Bird of Paradise print. This is paired with adidas’ latest performance technology for the ultimate collection. Further to this, the range also continues adidas’ drive toward conscious manufacturing. As such, it has crafted performance materials, hero styles and other items with a mix of recycled materials. This is just one of the aspects and innovations towards ending plastic waste.

There are three sneakers launched as part of the collection. This includes the NMD R1, Nizza Platform, and Forum silhouttes. Each of these sneakers have been reimagined with a touch of the Bird of Paradise Plant print. Although the NMD and Forum offer a more subtle touch in this regard, the Nizza platform, on the other hand, features an all-over print upper. Additionally, it stands out from the pack in a red base colour, with contrasting white midsole and three stipes.

Thebe Magugu had this to say about the second memorable release with adidas South Africa:

Our favourites. Available now at Nike.com

“For the second drop of my collection with adidas, I focused on finding beauty in the everyday. Inspired by the heritage of my native land, this drop unveils the Bird of Paradise print, enthused by unbridled joy and freedom. I am thrilled to be able to bring this to life with adidas’ iconic performance and lifestyle pieces. We’ve turned up the style in the second drop, riffing on interesting streetwear motifs and refashioned them into stealthy pieces for both performance and Originals. The prints are bold, the colours are striking and the silhouettes modern to create a collection that people will feel confident and secure in morning, day, and night. One of my favorite pieces is the adidas x Thebe Magugu Poncho Hoodie, which references a key silhouette in my universe and moves it into sports.”
