The Jordan Brand takes another trip down memory lane, resurfacing an iconic gem for basketball fans and sneaker enthusiasts alike – the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs”. This legendary sneaker is a tribute to the very shoe that Michael Jordan wore during his phenomenal engagement with the Phoenix Suns in the electrifying Game 6 of the 1993 NBA Finals. This was the game where he clinched the first of his three consecutive championship wins with the Chicago Bulls.

Delighting us with its comeback not only once but multiple times since its illustrious inception in 1993, the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” truly captures the essence of enduring appeal. This iconic design graced the market again in 2007 and even showed up sporting a sleek, low-top style in 2003. However, the last time you may remember seeing this jubilant piece of footwear was most likely back in 2013 for the 20th Anniversary of the Bulls’ monumental first three-peat.

Now, a decade has swiftly rolled by, and it’s time yet again to don our celebratory hats. The Jordan Brand is marking the momentous 30th Anniversary of MJ’s iconic eighth signature silhouette with the retro return of the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs. However, this time, the sneaker will return to its proper form. Yes, that means we are finally getting the red pull tab at the back.
Dressed in a “Black”, “True Red”, and “White” colour scheme, this sneaker offering is a delight for the eyes. The upper is covered in a pitch-black nubuck material, giving it a sleek and premium look. Graphic-imbued TPU overlays in white, black, and red then breaks through the darkness, adding a touch of contrast and visual interest to the design. The iconic crisscross straps, which are a signature feature of the Air Jordan 8, are also present, providing both style and lockdown support for the wearer.

Moving on, the tongue patch in plush chenille features the signature Jumpman in red, while ’23’ in stitching adorns the cross-straps. As most of us already know, the number 23 holds significant meaning in relation to Michael Jordan. It was the number he wore throughout most of his basketball career and has become synonymous with his legacy.
Finishing off the sneaker design, a black foam midsole with interior Air-sole cushioning rides on a colourful rubber outsole. The design underfoot echoes the overlay graphics on the TPU with the inclusion of a bright blue colour and a Jumpman logo in gold.
