The Air Jordan Legacy 312 is one of the more recent hybrid options Nike offers, having only debuted in the summer of 2018. While it may have been a little overlooked in the years that followed its release, 2022 and 2023 have been good years for the silhouette, seeing many more options added to the range. Luckily, a new gradient colourway has been added to the range, adding a new pair of Air Jordan Legacy 312 Lows.

The Air Jordan Legacy 312 is a hybrid design by Don Crawley, otherwise known as Don C. The silhouette merges some of the best elements from the Air Jordan 1, the Air Jordan 3, and the Nike Air Alpha Force Low, bringing them together in one cohesive design.

Inspired by three pairs of sneakers that Michael wore early on in his successful career with the Chicago Bulls, it’s fitting that Don C is also from Chicago and that many of the colourways are inspired by the original sneakers. Now that you’ve got a bit of the history let’s look at this gradient colourway, shall we?
Aside from the pops of colour that make up the gradients, the rest of the sneaker is primarily neutral. Starting from the bottom, we have a light blue semi-translucent outsole with a white midsole. The midsole has a clear window that displays the Air unit in the heel, and the upper midsole at the heel displays a light-to-dark gradient in blue. This entire piece’s design is borrowed from the Air Jordan 3, including the light grey tumbled leather that makes its way up into the white heel counter with a ribbed heel tab.

The toe box, mudguard, and lace stays are all borrowed from the Air Jordan 1, all represented in different hues for this colourway. The toe box is white, which matches the medial and lateral panelling. At the same time, the mudguard is another blue gradient, this time a dark-to-light.
The lace stays are a soft baby blue that matches the strap over the laces, an element borrowed from the Nike Air Alpha Force Low silhouette. The last pop of colour on the otherwise neutral pair is the Nike Swoosh, a subtle gradient from dark-to-light red that appears to be a combination of materials, the tail end of which looks like an imitation snake-skin leather.
The last bit of intrigue on the pair is the side trim, an animal-like print in soft cream, almost sail colour. However, I couldn’t tell you which animal this is meant to represent.
