The world of sneakers and related streetwear continues to release improved and unique designs. We’ve seen many brands pushing the design envelope, including the Converse Sponge Crater, the UNDERCOVER x Nike Moc Flow and the PUMA Plexus. ASICS has also recently ventured across the design horizon. The brand launched its new ASICS ACTIBREEZE 3D Slides, showcasing this new view on design.

ASICS released the first ACTIBREEZE 3D Slides in 2022 in an all-black colourway. It showcased its new design philosophy and was said to be heavily inspired by the YEEZY Slides. It’s clear to see the inspiration, but ASICS has pushed it beyond just the design, adding unique elements such as manufacturing.
ASICS has launched a new Mako Blue colourway for the ACTIBREEZE 3D Slides. The Slides are 3D printed, adding a unique design element as well as pushing new manufacturing techniques. This brings more efficient processes along with cost-saving and efforts to provide more sustainability.
The 3D-printed lattice structure provides breathability across the Slides, along with enhanced comfort. While the lattice structure adds plenty of holes in the design, it’s still relatively heavy, weighing about 280g per slide. These holes also create the additional irritation of picking up quite a few stones in the soles.

Interestingly, the ASICS ACTIBREEZE 3D Slides aren’t marketed as a fashion statement or daily driver. Instead, the Slides are designed as post-run shoes to aid recovery and provide comfort and support for your foot. This is thanks to its parametrically-designed construction and zonal comfort regions. The lattice structure also provides relaxation of the foot after your run.

Unfortunately, the ACTIBREEZE 3D isn’t yet available in South Africa. However, they’re available in various regions at a cost of $80 per pair.
