While you may already be familiar with his biopic Bob Marley: One Love, released earlier this year, the reggae musician’s influence has also spread to the sneaker world with the release of his very first Bob Marley x adidas SL 72 sneaker. Of course, this couldn’t be a more fitting collaboration, given that Marley was known for his affinity for the German three stripes label.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
The upcoming Bob Marley-inspired adidas SL 72 begins with a black and white upper made of suede, leather, and mesh materials.
The details of the design then include a black and white image of Marley imprinted on the tongue, his signature in gold on the heel counter, and retro branding on the insole that replaces the standard adidas text with Marley’s own name.
Finally, the sole unit below sports muted Rastafarian red, green, and yellow hues as a tribute to the legend’s Jamaican heritage. To be honest, it’s not the most striking design, but it may just be enough to keep fans interested.
Bob Marley x adidas SL 72 Release Details
This sneaker ode to the late legend will be released in Europe on October 15, 2024. However, no release date for other regions has been announced yet. The retail cost of these kicks is also still under wraps, but they will be sold at adidas.com and select retailers.
