Over the many decades, Converse has become a staple of street, music and creative culture, edging out its identity as the go-to sneaker for all occasions. Going back to its origins, however, the original Converse All Stars were released in 1917 as a basketball silhouette. Tapping into these routes and delving into its archives from the ’90s, Converse has revived its basketball performance sneaker, which originally debuted back in 1995, then known as the Voltage. The team has dropped the new VLTG Mission-V collection, inspired by its 90s roots.
Designed to stand out on the court, the VLTG follows the release of the Converse ERX 260 Hi earlier this year. The design of the range is derived from nature and the electric events it creates.
The result is a bold chevron inspired theme across the silhouettes, as well as a shooting star logo. The new range of VLTG Mission-V collection was designed exclusively for women, which features an exaggerated heel arch for an elevated stance.
Additional comforts include the lightweight EVA midsole, while keeping its signature leather upper, zig-zag patterns and shooting star logo. The sneakers stand out thanks to its colour contrasts, which formulate an unforgettable aesthetic language.
The new collection features two of Converse‘s most classic silhouettes in the form of the Chuck Taylor All Star 70s and Chuck Taylor All Star, both decked out in the hallmark Voltage bolt graphic.
The Converse VLTG Mission-V collection is available at Sportscene, Archive, Shesha, Office London, Superbalist and Edgars retail stores, as well as at Converse stores including Sandton, Mall of Africa, Canal Walk, Mall of the North, Gateway, Menlyn and Fourways Mall. The range will be available at a price point between R799 and R1,299.
