It’s been a busy few weeks for Converse. After a successful collaboration with DC celebrating Batman’s 85th anniversary, as well as the release of its latest campaign with the Converse Renew Canvas collection, Converse are back with three new collaborations. These include the Converse X OPI, Converse X GOLF le FLEUR* and the Converse x Undercover collections.
Converse X OPI
Converse is well-known for introducing collaborations full of bright and bold colours. The Converse X OPI collaboration is now different, with an eruption of colour with their partnership with the nail polish manufacturer.
With a touch of its signature flair, the collection features rich, shiny, deep Tartan-inspired tones, which aims to evoke an adventure in the Scottish fields, with its breathtaking views and cosy farmhouse fires. The collection features four primary tones, which is paired alongside the OPI nail polish allowing wearers to mix and match to the theme of the day. This includes inky greens, rich nudes and vivid reds with a mix of satin and gloss finishes.
The Converse X OPI collaboration includes the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette, in both the hi-top and lo-top variants. There are two variants of the upper, Satin and Canvas, which highlight special features on each, which includes embroidered backstays, as well as gloss detailed toecap dipped lace tips. The look is rounded off with a mix of text on the sneakers, which includes the following:
- “Things I’ve Seen in Aber-Green”
- “Red Heads Ahead”
- “Edinghburgh-er & Tatties”
- “Good Girls Gone Plaid”
The Converse X OPI collaboration provides a touch of sheen, which will have you ready for those glamourous days and nights. The sneakers are available at Converse Stores, Shesha stores, Edgars and Edgars Active stores with pricing between R999.95 and R1,299.95.
Converse X GOLF le FLEUR*
The Converse partnership with Tyler, The Creator has already seen a few collaborations of the GOLF le FLEUR* collection since the first drop in 2017. The partnership sees no signs of slowing down either with the latest introduction of the Gianno range. The range features three new sneakers with a bold new look, a concept engineered from the ground up. The silhouettes have been inspired by 90s sneakers which have become all the rage in recent years, mixing Tyler’s love for BMX biking and trail hiking outdoors. The Gianno blends Converse’s sportswear heritage with the playful personality of Tyler and his team.
The Converse x GOLF le FLEUR* Gianno is available at a price of R1,599.95.
Converse x Undercover
As with the Converse partnership with Tyler, The Creator, the partnership with Jun Takahashi also sees the return of an ongoing collaboration for the Converse x Undercover. The latest range forms part of the SS19 collection ‘New Warriors’, which sees the unveiling of the Chuck 70 at Palais de Tokyo.
The collection is a tribute to opposing style tribes seen in Japanese cult-classic 70s films. The pack is brought to life in a graphic camo glitch print, mixed with laced zipper guards and metal ring accents. The collection features two Chuck Taylor All Star silhouettes, the hi-top and lo-top variants, both of which include the phrase “New Warriors” printed on the toe cap. Both silhouettes feature hardware detailing and burnished rubber elements, with Takahashi’s signature high-concept elegance and raw-edged rebellion at the core of the designs.
The Converse collaboration with Jun Takahashi, the Converse X Undercover collection, is currently available at Converse Sandton City, Shelflife, Lemkus and Shesh. Pricing ranges between R1,499.95 and R1,599.95.
