Converse has announced several collaborations over the past 12 months, launching some incredibly successful drops during this time. A few months ago, the brand announced the drop of the Converse X Hello Kitty collaboration to celebrate the anniversary of the One Star. The team has now followed this up with yet another collection from the collaboration, available for the Chuck Taylor All Star Hi and Lo. In addition to this, they have also partnered with MadeMe for the Western Fantasy for Rebels and Outlaw Girls for the Converse X MadeMe collaboration.
Converse X Hello Kitty
The Hello Kitty brand has been synonymous with self-expression while embracing creativity. Converse has partnered with the Hello Kitty brand for their second collaboration this season.
Based on the spirit of “kawaii”, a uniquely Japanese concept of embodying an indescribable cuteness, the latest silhouettes will feature new colourways, classic graphics and playful elements scattered throughout, some of which are hidden in plain sight. The sneakers will be available in the two styles from the Chuck Taylor All Star range.
Both silhouettes feature a surprise bow, star and face graphics on the canvas upper, and available in black and white colourways. The white colourway features an additional apple graphic on the foxing tape. The collection will be available at Converse stores at Canal Walk, Gateway and Sandton City. The pricing is as follows:
- Converse X Hello Kitty Adult CTAS: R899,95 to R999,95
- Converse X Hello Kitty Youth/Infant CTAS: R599,95 to R699,95

Converse X MadeMe
In the second collaboration, the company has partnered with MadeMe for a “Western Fantasy for Rebels and Outlaw Girls.” This, too, is the second collaboration between the two brands. The collection is fresh with sporty basics and an overall Western feel, for rebels and outlaw girls.
The collection embodies urban sportswear with a country twist, aimed at cool, alternative women. There are heavy influences derived from vintage Western styles, with themes including rodeo girls, urban cowboys, all wrapped in classic, 90s colours. The collection was designed for ravers, protesters and all-out rebel girl outlaws, which is built upon the two variations of the One Star Platform silhouette. The sneaker features pretty tones of pink and tan, along with touches of suede. The detailing for the silhouette includes a sheriff star stitch around the One Star log, a collar overlay inspired by a Western-styled yoke, as well as two spare printed laces to tie everything together.
The Converse X MadeMe dropped this past weekend and is currently available at Converse Sandton City and Gateway, as well as Shelflife. The Converse X MadeMe One Star Platform retails for R1399,95.
