A few days ago, we saw the drop of the Converse X Dr. Woo collaboration, a sneaker pack which features a two-layered finish with a tear-away allowing you to create your own custom style. This time around, Converse has teamed up with Carhartt Work In Progress (Carhartt WIP) to reimagine the classic One Star sneaker.
The design house adapts iconic, workwear products from Carhartt for an audience that moves seamlessly between social scenes – the foundation of the collaboration with Converse. The One Star Carhatt WIP sees three new silhouettes, mixing functionality with a contemporary perspective. The sneaker pack is inspired by military designs, highlighting the overlaps between workwear and streetwear. This is the essence of evolution for the One Star silhouette’s signature style.
The three colourways presented in the collaboration are classic black, olive, and white. The detailing of the shoe is functional and robust with its military appeal, while still remaining focused on design. The upper features Cordura® fabric, with accompanying hangtags and a bandolier heel stay webbing with D-ring hardware detail. The intricacy of the design is extended to the sneaker’s tongue with the addition of a logo patch made from coated tarp-type material, similar to that on trailing coverings.
The Converse x Carhartt WIP One Star is set to retail for R1,299.99, and will be available at Shelflife. The store will feature the drop from 20 September 2018, and then on 27 September at Converse Sandton.
