Following the latest collaboration with the pop-culture icon, Hello Kitty, a few weeks back, Converse has continued the building of strategic partnerships, this time with celebrity tattoo artist, Dr. Woo for the drop of an all-new Chuck Taylor 70 collection as part of the Converse X Dr. Woo collaboration.
Dr. Woo, born Brian Woo, is the go-to tattoo artist for celebrities such as Drake, Miley Cyrus, and Zoë Kravitz, channeling the rebellious spirit of counterculture youths. Coupled with his love for the outdoors, Dr. Woo returns for a second collaboration with Converse. The latest collaboration includes the Chuck Taylor 70 hi-tops, which features a tear-away to reveal hand-drawn vintage prints beneath the classic black and white colourways.
The top layer allows wearers to customise how their sneakers will look, by choosing to break, cut out, tear down, or fade over time to reveal the underneath print. The second layer prints include Absinthe Green and Sunset Gold patterns. The silhouettes are available for both adults and kids, with Dr. Woo creating the first premium youth offering from Converse. To round off the customisable upper, the sneakers features three sets of laces, a bold licence plate to accent the second layer pattern, and Woo’s signature eye motif.
The Converse X Dr. Woo is currently available at Converse stores, as well as various retailers around the country. The Chuck Taylor 70 has a R1,399.95 retail price.
