Following last week’s Converse x Shaniqwa Jarvis collaboration for the updated Chuck 70 sneaker, Converse has continued its streak of partnered drops, this time with Chinese designer Feng Chen Wang. The Converse X Feng Chen Wang collaboration sees the drop of an all-new Jack Purcell silhouette.
Feng Chen Wang is known for her fashion-forward designs, with her take on the industry in a unique style. She makes the latest collaboration with Converse her own, with the Jack Purcell being reimagined with her own personal heritage and history literally woven into the design. Her name and brand aren’t just labels on the sneaker, it forms part of the actual construction. The Chinese symbols that spell out her English name, Feng Chen Wang, in enlarged Mandarin characters, form the layered design of the sneaker, which has been crafted from a stylish PU-coated, nubuck leather upper of the mid-top sneakers.
Other design elements include the 3D-printed lateral logo, a matte rubber foxing and tonal stitching to make the upper truly stand out. All of these elements bring the concept and function together for a beautifully crafted sneaker, which is a nod to her past while making a statement as to how far she’s come.
The Converse X Feng Chen Wang Jack Purcell sneakers launch this weekend and will be available exclusively at Converse Sandton City and Shelflife, as well as online at converse.co.za.
The sneaker will be available in two colourways, namely Obsidian/Sea Salt/Black and Sea Salt/Barely Blue, and carries a retail of R1,599.95.
