Converse is back with another collaboration. For its latest collaboration, the brand has partnered with prolific and progressive artist, Keith Haring. The collection was inspired by his signature pop art style, with the belief that people can change the world through creativity. Enter the Converse x Keith Haring sneaker collection.

Converse x Keith Haring focuses on breaking barriers. But the brand understands that breaking these barriers is more than just a single act. It’s a mindset of progress, beyond time. Without the creativity, grit and optimism of the past, we won’t have the stories and tools to break the barriers of the future.

Haring embodies this mindset. The driving force throughout his career was to ensure that his work not only advocates for the oppressed by uplifting them but that is accessible for all.

The Converse x Keith Haring collection features four sneakers from the Converse archives. This includes the Run Star Hike, Chuck 70, Pro Leather and Chuck Taylor All-Star. Each silhouette from the range will pay homage to Haring’s iconic drawings, chalked on the vacant billboards of the New York subway.

Converse x Keith Haring Run Star Hike Sneaker

Starting off the new range of sneakers is the Run Star Hike. It pays homage to the popular drawings from Haring, which were chalked on the vacant billboards of the New York subway.

The graphics are black and white, depicting his signature figures. There are pops of red to match the sneaker’s rear.

The Run Star Hike features the classic canvas upper, along with heel webbing and a saw-toothed outsole. The design is rounded off with the Keith Haring signature on the tongue and sockliner, which features the OrthoLite insole for comfort.

Converse x Keith Haring Chuck 70 Sneaker

Another of the designs celebrating the vacant billboards across New York. This time around, the design is an embroidered black and white graphics. This sits atop an organic canvas upper, along with the touches of red.

As with the Run Star Hike, Haring’s signature is featured on the tongue. It is screen-printed, with touches alongside crafted Chuck 70 details. Sticking to the classic look, it has flat cotton laces and a vintage licence plate on the rear.

Converse x Keith Haring Pro Leather Sneaker

Switching from the high-top silhouettes, it’s the Pro Leather next. This legendary basketball sneaker has been reimagined to inspire off the court aesthetics in its black and white pop art graphics.

The graphics pay homage to the graffiti-inspired painting style. Instead of the signature on the tongue, it has been moved to the rear on the heel.

Keeping its classic look, the Star Chevron is contrasted against the leather upper, alongside the brick pattern outsole.

Converse x Keith Haring Chuck Taylor All Star Sneaker

Rounding off the sneaker drop is the Chuck Taylor All-Star. As with the Pro Leather, it was inspired by Haring’s graffiti painting style.

With its all-over black and white finish, it is contrasted with pops of red colour on the canvas upper. Sticking to the classic style, it features the rubber toe bumper and toe cap.

In addition to the sneakers, Converse has also included a range of apparel. This includes graphic tees and hat.

The Converse x Keith Haring sneaker collaboration is currently available online at converse.co.za. Sneakers retail between R1,199.95 and R799.95. The apparel will retail between R399.95 and R2,199.00.

The collection will also be available at various retailers. This includes Superbalist, Shelflife, Lemkus, Archive, Inline, Crosstrainer and Baseline.
