Nearly a year ago, Converse partnered with London-based designer, Paria Farzaneh, for the duo’s first drop. The Converse X Paria /FARZANEH collection is back. It brings with it a collection of high-end fashion pieces, blending modern utility with a nod to Paria’s Iranian roots.
The collection features a mix of sneakers, apparel and accessories. Reaching back into the Converse archives, the Pro Leather X2 receives the Converse X Paria /FARZANEH remix.
Based on the 90s graphic elements and Iranian heritage, the pieces from the drop aim to confront and disrupt the status quo. The pack was designed to challenge western views of Middle Eastern culture. This includes expressing solidarity with the fight for change.
The Pro Leather X2 features a bold new zip-up edition.
As a result of the refresh, new life is breathed into the iconic court sneaker, with modern twists designed to hit the streets. It includes an exaggerated outsole and fashion-forward lean with utilitarian functionality.
Additionally, it features a neoprene bootie construction. This includes a sleek colour gradient print and hits of suede. The high-top sneaker also features Paria /FARZANEH’s signature Iranian paisley. This is sported on the interior and sock liner. The upper also has a vibrant gradient print. It fuses these print details on the midsole and hints of suede.
Classic Converse elements include the Star Chevron on heel, along with branding on the insole.
Another inspiration from the Iranian traditions is the wood blocking techniques. This appears on the interior and sock liner. It is an expression of heritage and modern style—with practical function for a world that demands it.
The Converse x Paria/FARZANEH is currently available for R1,999.95. It is available in two colourways: Grape Royal and Asphalt.
The pack is available online at Converse.co.za, as well as in-store at Converse Sandton City and Shelflife.
