Following the release of the Converse X UNDFT back in October, the brand is back with another collaboration. Converse has partnered with the South Korean streetwear label, thisisneverthat. The duo drop the all-new Converse X thisisneverthat collection.
thisisneverthat is a Seoul-based label focused on contemporary fashion. The collection has been dubbed “New Vintage”.
The collection brings with it a refresh on two of Converse‘s icons, the Chuck 70 and One Star sneakers. It has been reinterpreted with 90s street vibe with a modern style twist. As such, it utilises distinct finishing effects to give it that vintage look and feel.
The Converse X thisneverthat Chuck 70 features a hairy suede upper with a unique finishing effect on the midsole. The suede material is extended to the tongue. The limited-edition, high-top sneaker echoes the look of a worn-in pair of Chucks.
This distinct blend of old and new is crafted from modern details which highlight the collaboration. The sneaker brings with it vintage-inspired colours and textures, celebrating an iconic style era for the brand.
Additional details on the silhouette include the custom woven label, including the license plate and ankle patch. It features a pop green outsole and sockliner to create contrast. The logo and lace eyelets also add to the look with a vintage treatment. And to round off the aesthetic, the laces have a crisp contrast, mixing new with old.
The collection is rounded off with two t-shirts that tie into the look.
The Converse X thisisneverthat “New Vintage” collection is available exclusively online at converse.co.za.
