While I may enjoy viewing some of the great artwork on custom-designed sneakers, I’ve never been a strong proponent of custom jobs and can’t muster the courage to attempt one on any of my pairs of sneakers. It would just break my heart. After seeing the custom job created by German artist, Sneakersnbonsai, after joining forces with Craig David, I may have changed my mind. The custom Louis Vuitton X adidas NMD_R1 are nothing short of amazing.
You won’t necessarily associate Craig David as a celebrity sneakerhead, but it turns out he might just be. Having teamed up with the artist to design a custom sneaker, two pairs of adidas Originals NMD_R1’s were used as the base, one in black and one white. The artist proceeded to cut up the sneaker, removing the heeltips and the likes, before reverting back to his scissors to chop up an authentic Louis Vuitton bag. Pretty cringeworthy already if you consider the price. The design was finished off with 24-carat gold leaf for the NMD EVA plugs.

You can watch the making-of video depicting the process that goes into making such a high-end custom sneaker.

The hype from the Louis Vuitton X adidas NMD_R1 sneaker was used to promote David’s latest single, For the Gram, from his new album. You can view that below, too.
