After it was initially rumoured to drop in 2021, Drake’s NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra sneaker (the Canadian superstar’s first official signature footwear) is finally said to be releasing on the 27th January 2022, a whole year later. The good news is that it looks like there will be multiple colourways available when it finally drops. We hope.
That’s right, after being teased for over a year on snapshots on Instagram and even appearing in Drake’s music videos, the NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra, which is said to retail for $150, is almost here. Well, the “White Chrome” colourway at least.
But there seems to be other designs on the way too. Taking to Instagram on the 7th January, Drake posted an image of the NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra “Triple Black” colourway, which features a black leather design sneaker with white and chrome accents.
Continuing his partnership with the Swoosh, it seems we’ll be getting variants (“Triple White,” “Black/Yellow” and snakeskin iterations) too.
But just as his music divided hip hop fans, Drake’s Nike sneakers have drawn criticism and love from sneakerheads across the globe. Drawing comparisons to FILA’s Disruptor and K-Swiss kicks, the “original” NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra is a silhouette showcased in white tumbled leather with a panelled upper with metallic silver accents.
Late last year (December 9th), Drake gained a lot of attention when he wore the Nike sneaker during Kanye West’s “FREE LARRY HOOVER” benefit concert. Many expected the shoes to go on sale immediately after. However, that wasn’t the case. Some have pointed out that there might be a few logistical issues getting the sneakers to retail, including delays because of COVID-19.
Either way, we’re glad it’s finally releasing. The mid-top is guaranteed to move units, so pay attention and make sure you’re early if you hope to cop these.
