If you were a kid like me growing up in the ’90s, you would almost certainly have owned one of the following brands: North Star, LA Gear or Hi-Tec. While the former shoes have lost some momentum in South Africa since the 2000s, Hi-Tec has continued to make shoes, ranging from rugged off-road to the kids sports range.
In recent years, there’s a growing popularity of sneakers among almost all groups, which includes classics from the respective archives, as well as the strange phenomenon of the rise of the dad and/or ugly sneaker. Hi-Tec too has looked back into their archives and revived their Hi-Tec Sports brand.
Hi-Tec Sports has relaunched their brand with the release of the HTS74 (the 74 marking the year the company was founded), a range of premium sneakers from the Hi-Tec archives. Having been in the works for a number of years, May 2018 finally sees the release of the HTS74 line. Taking inspirational cues from their archives, which extends 43 years, the team of designers created a range that balances functional sports footwear and modern-day fashion statement.
The HTS74 features two silhouettes, the HTS74 Badwater 146 and HTS74 Badwater 157, both of which are available in various colourways. Both sneaker variants feature a lot of Hi-Tec’s trademark upper patterns and the distinctive “harpoon” logo. Hi-Tec Sports doesn’t just want the HTS74 range to be yet another retro drop, but assures to present modern and functional trainers.
To get your hands on the new range of Hi-Tec Sports HTS74 sneakers, head on over to the local HTS74 site and place your order directly. The comeback collection is here – a reflection of the past and future.
