Earlier this year, Hi-Tec Sports SA revived their Sports sneaker range, the HTS74, with the two silhouettes, the HTS74 Badwater 146 and HTS74 Badwater 157. The local team also launched an online store for sneakerheads to directly purchase their Hi-Tec Sports HTS74 sneakers. Hi-Tec Sports SA is set to drop their latest range of sneakers with new styles from the global comeback collection. A team of young talent has been brought together to relaunch the brand by establishing HTS74; a premium sneaker line and acknowledgement of Hi-Tec’s legacy.
The range was dropped as part the Spring/Summer 2018 season, built upon classic 1990’s Hi-Tec silhouettes from the Outdoor Adventure Racing Series. Two new silhouettes are set to drop from the range, including the Flash Adventure Racer and Silver Shadow RGS, with the updated lightweight Vibram® RGS sole. In addition to this, a third silhouette will also feature in the drop, an update of three new colourways from the Badwater 146 range.
The Air Ball Concept was built on the idea of air as lighter and more resilient than the traditional EVA midsoles of the time. A pressurised cylinder is utilised and seated in the heel of the shoe. The cylinder effectively compresses and absorbs the shock of each impact before expanding.
Back in the day, it was replaceable and available in two different pressure ratings for individual running requirements. This is coupled with the likes of breathable mesh panels, durable leather construction and external stabilisers at both the heel and forefoot. In 1989, all of this was combined to create the ultimate ultra-marathoner: the Badwater 146. Hi-Tec’s functional Rollin Gait System (RGS) outsole was developed together with Vibram in 2011, together with Hi-Tec product team.
The Vibram Rollin Gait system sole unit has an innovative midsole and outsole combination that supports the natural movement of the foot to reduce muscle fatigue. All these technologies were cutting at the time of release three decades ago and still stand up to the harshest environments to provide the wearer with the utmost comfort and support.
