Nike and the Jordan Brand have been teasing us with announcements about their latest colourway for the Air Jordan 4, the “Red Cement”. Now, we finally have official images to look at and get a better idea about the construction of these retro sneakers before their upcoming release.

The Air Jordan 4 model has been successful since its release in 1989. The line is specifically famous for its cement-inspired colourways, even making its way into two of the debut quad, “Black Cement/Bread” and “White Cement”.
The “White Cement” colourway has been loved throughout the decades, leading to Jordan re-releasing the pair in 2016 as the Air Jordan 4 Retro “White Cement. That said, it makes sense that the cement inspiration has lived as long as it has, but also that Nike might want to change its design that has stood the test of time.

As usual, Nike has stayed faithful to their original design, keeping the predominantly white leather upper with windows of stunning white mesh and white laces. Many of the elements of this stunning new addition have stayed the same, referencing the sneakers that came before while adding a fresh, new spin on things.
The outsole also keeps its semi-translucent tip and the translucent window that looks into the visible Air unit in the sole near the heel.
The blacked-out elements of the previous models are also shared on this pair, such as the outsole, the classic Air Jordan 4 lace support wings, and the inner lining that peaks over the collar.
Other than that, the Air Jordan 4 “Red Cement” colourway completely drops the cement-grey elements of its predecessors with a still mottled and cement-like “Fire Red”, earning the pair its name. The speckled red elements can be seen on the midsole, the supports of the upper lace support wings and the heel tab.

The Jumpman logo on the tongue label has also been swapped out for a fitting solid red. Besides these few changes, the pair is a fitting homage to its long heritage and a perfect addition to the range of cement-inspired colourways that make up the classic Air Jordan 4 collection.

Although the release of these sneakers has been postponed a few times, a release date is finally set for the 9th of September, 2023, when you can see these sneakers flying onto shelves (and then off again) and find them on the Nike SNKRS website/app.
