Despite having only debuted recently, the Jordan MVP 678 range has been getting a lot of hype. It has been called one of the better hybrid silhouettes that the brand has brought out in recent years. Combining elements from some of the best Air Jordan sneaker ranges — the Air Jordan 6, Air Jordan 7, and Air Jordan 8 — these sneakers bring us the best design elements from each and have started to extend their range of colourways. Nike just released official images of the latest colourway for the Jordan MVP 678 in “University Blue”, and the sneakers are the perfect mix of pitch-black and electric blue. Curious? Keep reading!

Jordan MVP 678 “University Blue”
Starting from the top, the sneaker is absolutely dominated by pitch black on most of the upper, the toe, the heel and some of the upper-midsole, with stunning decorative stitching and supple nubuck. An element that has become a particular favourite is the lateral stripes imprinted on the heel, giving a more textured feel despite the construction being of the same material as the rest of the upper.

From there, we move down to see that the black is accented by electric blue, from the nylon inner that peeks out from the collar to the embroidered Jumpman logo on the side ankle and equally stunning embroidered “Nike” Swoosh and “Air” branding on the heel. Again, the electric “University Blue” is perfectly contrasted against the black, making it pop out like it is lit up from the inside.

The lateral mudguard is a smattering of electric blue, white and black, with a painterly brush-stroke feel that resembles a mix between fine art and graffiti, while the medial side sports Michael Jordan’s infamous #23.

Some of the midsoles, especially at the forefront, the mid-foot and the heel, are black rubber matching the rest of the pitch-black upper, which is complemented by more elements of electric blue on the midsole, which transitions into white covered in translucent rubber. With the signature Air Jordan 6 outsole, it’s clear that these sneakers are designed for performance and are here to stay.

The rest of the elements, like the nylon tongue label that transitions into just a hint of patent leather, the heel tab and the laces, are all pitch-black once again, completing the look cohesively and stunningly.

Suppose you loved the Air Jordan 6, Air Jordan 7 and Air Jordan 8 feel but couldn’t choose a favourite, these will be the sneakers for you. Combining all the best elements of its predecessors cohesively.

Fortunately, suppose history is anything to go on. In that case, we should be hearing more about these stunning sneakers soon, as the release of official images usually quickly precedes the release of the actual sneakers.
It’s at least safe to assume that we will be seeing these awesome “University Blue” sneakers on Nike.com and in select retailers sometime this year, likely within the next couple of months.
