We’re currently in the middle of the New York Fashion Week, ending this weekend, 16 February 2019. We’ve been pretty accustomed to the weird and wonderful from the event over the years, items of clothing you won’t find while on the streets, or even high-end events. This year, a few household brands – Nike and Lexus – took on the mantle of the over-the-top item of the week with their collaboration, designed by style entrepreneur John Elliott. The collaboration sees the creation of an all-new tyre for the Lexus UX in a high-art-luxury-car crossover.

A short while back, Nike partnered with Elliott to drop an iconic version of the Nike Air Force 1. The duo is back again, along with Lexus, for the creation of the Nike Air Force 1-themed tyre. While the Air Force 1 included layering and stacking to give the sneaker an illusion of shadows and shades, the tyre receives the same treatment for the same effect. We’ve previously seen sneakers with car crossovers on shoes, but this is the first time its been done vice versa. What’s cool about the design of the tyre is that it closely resembles the sole of the Air Force 1 quite closely, from the Swoosh to the AF1 badge.
While there isn’t much to go on in the way of information on the concept artwork, but there are quite a lot of detailed imagery to keep us enthralled for a while. The images also reveal a number of changes on the Lexus UX itself, from the all-white theme, including the arches and mirrors. The customised Lexus UX may not be available for sale, but the John Elliott X Nike collaboration has definitely piqued our interest.
