Custom sneakers have become more popular than ever, with plenty of artists trying their hand at the art form. One of the latest stunning sneakers is this Air Jordan 3 “Spider-Man” by @jessewoods_collection, a pair that really is a work of art, boasting over 2000 stitches to create.

A lot of work goes into a custom pair of sneakers, and we rarely get to peek beyond the veil and see or hear about what happens behind the scenes. Some customizers make YouTube videos detailing the custom process. Still, many don’t want to reveal too many of their secrets. Luckily, @jessewoods_collection loves to credit the folks who collaborated with them. We get to see some details that went into this fabulous custom pair of Air Jordan 3 sneakers.
Jesse Woods works with their customs by completely deconstructing the base sneaker of their custom, saving elements that they can while replacing many of them with elements of velvet, leather and beautiful handmade work.

The pair has a pretty standard AJ3 base with a grey outsole that makes its way into an off-white midsole with a clear window displaying the visible air unit in the sole. The back heel part also boasts a creamy shade that matches the lace stays.

The right and left sneakers are slightly different, showing different degrees of Venom taking over Spider-Man and being brought to life through embroidery and a combination of velvet and leather.
The right sneaker is more Spidey than Venom but still sports the latter creeping up the medial side of the shoe. The stunning Spider-Man detailing is hand embroidered against what looks like vibrant flocky felt, with elements for the blue parts of his suit and the red, which displays the web design that we know and love. The eye of his mask is also proudly displayed on the lateral side with white leather surrounded by black.

The right shoe’s tongue and heel tab display the Spider-Man emblem, and the heel tabs on both sneakers were custom-made from leather and then embroidered by @tatommy.stitch.

The left sneaker is more Venom than Spidey, with Venom taking over the lateral side in velvet that creeps all the way up to the tongue and the heel tab, all while still displaying Spider-Man underneath, with Venom’s eye displayed in white leather on the lateral side this time.
The laces of the right sneaker are red to match Spider-Man, who dominates that side, while the laces of the left are black to match Venom, who occupies that side.

While this was a one-of-a-kind custom that probably took hours upon hours to complete, many custom sneaker artists take commissions, so if you want to get your hands on a pair of your own, consider looking up these artists and getting in contact with them about a custom of your own.
