Last year, the Nike Air Foamposite One “Metallic Red” was teased for release sometime this year. Still, it didn’t have any official images to corroborate the release. Luckily for us, the official photos have finally been released. So let’s go ahead and take a look at the upcoming Retro sneakers.

Nike Air Foamposite One “Metallic Red”
These sneakers were first teased thanks to an internal brand document that Complex viewed last year. Still, back then, there weren’t any images for us to consider, and it was slated for release sometime this year. Now, Nike has released some official photos and narrowed down the release window for Summer 2023, suspected to be released sometime during May. So the shoes will soon hit the market, with the official images being released.

Release Date and Price
I wouldn’t take the release date too much to heart because, as we know, sneaker schedules are constantly subject to change. As a result, the dates often shift right before the launch, especially when the world is going through disrupting events like natural disasters or a pandemic that causes disruptions to the global supply chain.
The Foamposite line is famously a little more expensive than some other Nike Air sneakers, possibly because of the Retro design and sometimes because of narrow-release windows. The first time these basketball shoes hit the market was in 2012, and then they weren’t seen again until five years later, in 2017. Six years later, they finally take the world by storm again for $230.

Design
The design isn’t anything ground-breaking, but it doesn’t need to be because it would defeat the point of bringing back the beloved retro design. Even the original internal brand document said that it would be similar to the 2017 iteration of the sneakers. There are the exact details of the shiny-red upper and the translucent outsoles. The one feature different from previous iterations is that the eyelets are designed in rubber instead of nubuck.
Aside from the leather eyelets, the new sneakers are a beautiful and faithful recreation of the originals, offering you that Retro and original feel. The black leather isn’t just limited to the eyelets but also wraps around the heel. The laces go almost all the way down to the toe box, again bringing in the retro feel of the sneakers. The texture of the inner and tongue label is mirrored on the black part of the midsole, with the same holes, but protected by some clear rubber.
If you are looking for an awesome, updated, but still retro Nike Air Foamposite One look, the 2023 “Metallic Red” is the pair of sneakers for you.
