One Air Jordan line famous for its different cement colourways is the Air Jordan 3. So when it was first announced that a “Black Cement” colourway was coming to the Air Jordan 2, it surprised a few people. The Air Jordan 3s already have a concrete jungle of options regarding the various “Cement” options. Still, luckily for us, the colourway is being reinvented for the Air Jordan 2, so let’s look at the Air Jordan 2 “Black Cement.

At this point, we all know that the Air Jordan 2 wasn’t exactly Michael Jordan’s favourite. In fact, it almost caused the legendary basketball player to end his agreement with Nike, but you can read all about that here. Despite the bad rap with the GOAT, Jordan Brand fans still love the sneaker for the historical significance that it holds and the sleek look of the sneakers.
Speaking of a sleek look, the “Black Cement” colourway continues the sophisticated silhouette with an all-black upper made of sections of smooth leather and accented with overlays that resemble imitation reptile leather to add a little spice to the already immaculate look.
The Cement part of its namesake comes in with some touches of Cement grey for rubber and leather throughout the sneakers. Cement Grey leather can be seen on the tongue of the sneakers, the ribbed heel counter, and the inner lining and accented trim around panelling throughout the sneakers.

The midsole is a light Sail to bring a little light to an otherwise dark and moody pair of sneakers, complemented by the Cement Grey outsole accented at the back with Fire Red. The Fire Red is then repeated on the branding of the heel counter and the Air Jordan Wings logo on the tongue label to bring some colour back into the slate palette.
Most “Cement” colourways from Nike and Jordan Brand have some spotted or mottled detailing, usually on the sole or lower part of the sneakers. Notably, that feature is missing from this colourway, but that isn’t a reason to love them any less.
Paying homage to the lovely Cement options of the beloved Air Jordan 3, the sneakers that saved Nike’s partnership with Michael Jordan, these sneakers stay true to their roots and their Air Jordan 2 design while pulling inspiration from an original favourite.

If you love these sneakers, the good news is that they already have a set release date for the 23rd of September, 2023, so there is little time to wait. This is usually when you would get some bad news, but so far, there isn’t any bad news that comes along with this pair.
