Whenever a colourway from Nike garners positive attention, it’s likely to resurface at some point or the other. That’s what’s happening with the notable Nike Dunk Low “Dusty Olive”. You might recall this distinct shade from its initial debut back in 2021, designed around the contrasting-colour ethos of the 2001 “Ugly Duckling” pack. Now, this unconventional hue is making a comeback, and it’s time for you to take a detailed look at this design before we dive into release specifics.
The reissue of the “Dusty Olive” stands true to the oddly captivating aesthetic of the “Ugly Duckling” pack. It sports a quirky blend of “Dusty Olive” and “Pro Gold” over its entire nubuck leather framework. This offbeat colour combination lends the shoe a distinctive and visually appealing look.
The base of this high-end Nike Dunk Low is drenched in a deep shade of brown, gracing the design’s tongue, toe box, quarter panels, and padded low-cut collar. On closer examination, you’ll find the collar isn’t suede like the rest of the shoe. It’s constructed from a canvas material matching the tongue. This contrast in materials adds an intriguing textural and visual element to the shoe’s overall design.
Moving along, the gorgeous “Dusty Olive” hue embellishes the overlays found on the toe, mudguard, eye-stays, and heel. This shade is also featured on the sneaker’s embroidered branding on the heel, the reverse side of the tongue, the lining, and again on the insoles. In a brilliant move to enhance this colour palette, Nike incorporates bright “Pro Gold” insertions on the Swoosh logos and the heel tab, with the tongue label and insole branding also done in this vibrant shade.
Completing the design is a clean white midsole set against a “Pro Gold” rubber outsole, exquisitely paring with the yellow highlights on the upper. The whole look is tied together with a set of “Pro Gold” laces. However, the laces could easily be swapped for a soft ivory or cream pair to provide a different but equally compelling look.
Overall, this colour scheme creates a vibrant and eye-catching look for the sneakers. However, I have got to say that this colour scheme is definitely giving me Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vibes, more specifically, our yellow-masked friend, Michelangelo. The combination of the earthy green, brown and yellow tones of the shoe perfectly captures the hero’s colour scheme. So, if you are a TMNT fan, this colourway is definitely one to consider adding to your collection. But regardless of whether you like TMNT or not, this is still a standout sneaker.
