There were rumours aplenty in the past months regarding a new collaboration between Nike and Sony. Today, it’s finally official. Nike Basketball and Sony have partnered with Paul George for the next version of the PS5 sneakers. Enter the all-new Nike PG 5 Playstation 5.
Back in 2018, the trio also joined forces for the release of the Nike PG 2.5 x PlayStation. That same year, the Nike Air Force 1 “PlayStation ’18” was also released. With the release of the PS5, it seems only natural for Nike to drop an updated pair of sneakers for the console.
Check out the official announcement video first:

With an official statement released on the PlayStation Blog, and written by Paul George himself, he talks about the various designers from both teams and the artistic influences from the PS5 console design as well. The team also included Yujin Morisawa, the artist who created the PS5 console design.
In addition, the focus was to bring the spirit of the game (basketball) to the fore in the unique collaboration.
Nike PG 5 Playstation 5 Design
The PS5 sneakers includes the following design features and detailing:
- As seen with previous collabs, the tongue of the shoe includes the PG and PlayStation logos
- Inspiration of the colourway is drawn from the industrial design of the PS5. This extends to the sock liner and outsoles
- In addition, there are plenty of PlayStation detailing, included the shapes, resembling the same pattern seen on the DualSense wireless controller
News leaked in March about a possible May 2021 launch, and that is also official via the blog post. The Nike PG 5 Playstation 5 sneakers will drop on 14 May 2021 in select global markets, and will be available in North America on 27 May.
It’ll be available via the Nike SNKRS app if it’s available in your country. The sneaker is set to retail at $120. There’s no confirmation as yet whether these will be available in South Africa upon release.
In addition to this, the PS5 sneakers will also be available in NBA 2K21 from today, 5 May. Get ready to lace up in-game.

The only question remains: will you be able to purchase the Nike PG 5 Playstation 5 sneakers before the PS5 console itself?
