House of Heat isn’t just a site where you can find the latest information about sneaker releases but also a fantastic source of original custom content. During October, the website designed and shared stunning custom sneakers for their “#Shocktober” series of sneaker concepts, and one stunning pair was their Nike SB Dunk “Candyman” sneakers.

When someone says Candyman, you might be inclined to think of the 2021 movie, but that was a direct sequel to the 1992 original film based on a terrifying short story by Clive Barker called The Forbidden. The story follows a Chicago university student studying urban legends and folklore within the city, learning of the “Candyman”, a mysterious soul with a hook for a hand. Director Bernard Rose was instrumental in bringing the story to life, along with the stunning role of Tony Todd as The Candyman.
The Nike SB Dunk “Candyman” sneakers display many of the stunning elements that made up the fantastic depiction of The Candyman that was brought to life in the 1992 classic film.
Looking at the sneakers, the Nike SB Dunk “Candyman” sneakers have a rich brown outsole that doesn’t quite constitute gum but is more of a warm Ale Brown. The midsole is a contrasting darker colour that is more of a chocolatey brown. The interplay between the two rich colours is seen elsewhere throughout the sneakers, creating a beautiful, warm, and cohesive look.

With tumbled leather, the chocolaty colour returns on the tip, mudguard, lace stays, the quarter of the upper, and the heel counter wrapping around the back, making up the heel tab. The heel tab and the rest of the heel counter are separated by the same warm Ale Brown of the outsole, represented this time in the same tumbled leather as the rest of the upper.
The Nike Swoosh is present here in shiny silver leather, perfectly representing the hook that The Candyman has for a hand in both movies. The inner lining of the sneaker and the entire tongue is constructed of a fluffy white teddy fleece that perfectly works together with the chocolaty brown leather to invoke the idea of the wool-lined jacket that The Candyman wears in both movies.
Lastly, if you haven’t watched either movie, what’s up with the stunning golden bee near the heel and on the insole of the sneakers? Thanks to Gucci, a golden bee seems to add a layer of sophistication to nearly any look, but that isn’t the bee’s point on this pair. The answer is a little dark, but it has to do with how Candyman, the original spirit, died. So the bees are canon, not just for looks.

While these sneakers appear to have been created purely for House of Heat, they haven’t shared any information about where you can get your hands on these sneakers for yourself, so until they do, we will have to console ourselves by looking at this beautiful design.
