Following the launch of the PUMA CELL Endura silhouette in October 2018, PUMA has dropped two new colourways to the collection. Continuing the momentum with the popular silhouette, PUMA has teamed up with US-based sneaker retailer BLENDS to collaborate on an all-new colourway.
BLENDS was founded by Tak Kato and Mike Toe as a simple concept store, which provided unique shopping experiences for their customer base. The duo, having grown up in Japan, wanted to bring an international perspective to the industry by blending tastes on with global level products. The team continues to push the latest trends keeping the streetwear culture strong. The collaboration with PUMA aims to blends the strong heritage of the CELL Endura silhouette with modern design aesthetics by means of a new colourway. An offspring of the ‘Futuristic’ and ‘Unusual’ design idea, the silhouette is featured in PUMA Silver and PUMA Ages Silver colours.
The CELL Endura BLENDS features a mesh and PU coated leather upper with iridescent metallic silver leather overlays. The silhouette also features the CELL technology on the shoe’s midsole, while adding a loop puller to the tongue, with a co-branded sockliner to complete the aesthetic. The hexagonal ‘cells’ enhance the optimal shape in order to provide stable cushioning to move faster, stronger and better. The stability of the silhouette is derived from the blow-moulded polyurethane elastomer (TPU) that was configured in a pattern of hexagonal cells. The fading effect of the tone change also represents a deeper meaning of “Understanding of Nothing.” The meaning of this translates: while there exists an infinite space of the unknown, living with uncertainty towards the future without forgetting the past is key.
The PUMA CELL Endura BLENDS is set to drop on 24 January 2019 and will be exclusively at BLENDS stores, while available at PUMA SELECT stores and Shelflife starting 26 January. The sneaker will retail for R2,999.
