In recent months, PUMA has dropped numerous collaborations celebrating iconic brands and releases through the decades. In addition to this, the company has also dropped a few collections specifically focusing on the gaming industry with drops such as the SEGA collaboration for Sonic RS-X3, as well as the RS-0 Play range inspired by video games. In the latest feature, PUMA honours the classic video game TETRIS® for the PUMA X TETRIS collection.
Recognised as one of the most influential games in history, the video game is well-known around the globe featuring the iconic Tetrimino playing pieces, especially for those who grew up in the 80s and 90s. The game was created by Russian video game designer Alexey Pajitnov and debuted for all ages way back in 1984.
The PUMA X TETRIS collection includes two silhouettes in the form of the recently revived RS 9.8 and the formidable RS-X silhouettes. The sneakers feature in daring yet contrasting colourways inspired by the game, which also includes the falling Tetriminos across the heel. To add to the aesthetic, the sneakers feature reflective trimmings and a 3D heat-cut TETRIS® tongue logo. The RS-X has an additional print, the phrase “HARD DROP” on the heel, one of the commands from the game itself, to make the Tetriminos land instantly.
To round off the collection, PUMA has included a few apparel items to the collection, which includes a Track Jacket, Tee and Track Pants to complete the look.
The PUMA X TETRIS collection is set to drop on 1 November and will be available at PUMA Select stores, X-Trend, Shelflife, Shesha, Madaiza and selected retailers across the country. The PUMA X TETRIS RS 9.8 will retail for R1,899 while the PUMA X TETRIS RS-X for R2,299.
