Following the successful drop of the PUMA X Karl Lagerfeld a few weeks back, PUMA has joined forces with Chinatown Market, a leading online destination for men’s contemporary fashion and streetwear. Chinatown Market has previously collaborated with the likes of Conan O’Brien for a contemporary streetwear collection, featuring their signature smiley face graphics. The PUMA X Chinatown Market collaboration will feature a DIY-style aesthetic.
As part of the collab, the team are stepping up their game with a fresh take on sport-inspired sneakers. With the reimagination of PUMA’s classic silhouettes, the design team introduces classic slogans and bold graphics, along with removable and interchangeable elements to create a Do-It-Yourself feel.
PUMA chose the Ralph Sampson Lo silhouette for the collaboration, which will feature multi-coloured interchangeable Formstripes, atop of either a PUMA Black or PUMA White silhouette. Creating the DIY-aesthetic was the brainchild of Chinatown Market designer, Mike Cherman, who is known to create his own rules. The collaboration is no different. The designs were inspired by the fast-moving pace and style of New York’s Canal Street and offer fun graphics and cheeky prints to give it a daring attitude.
The PUMA X Chinatown Market Ralph Sampson Lo is set to hit PUMA Select stores on 9 August. The silhouette will retail for R2,199.
