Earlier in 2021, PUMA celebrated its heritage through its founder, Rudolf Dassler, with the PUMA Dassler Legacy pack. As an extension of this, PUMA has dropped the second capsule, which honours moments in PUMA’s history. The latest drop has been dubbed Laundry Boys.
Each of these moments paved the way to what the brand has become today. The inspiration for the Laundry Boys capsule is from Rudolf Dassler’s entrepreneurial start. Early in his career, Dassler started off as one of his mother’s laundry boys, where he would deliver clean clothes to customers.
Starting off at this point, it set Dassler on the road to founding PUMA. The collection features some of PUMA’s classic sneakers from the archives. Each have been given a laundry-inspired makeover, which includes care labels, premium materials and gold metal charms.
The selection of sneakers for the capsule includes Rudolf Dassler Legacy Laundry Boys Suede VTG, Universal, Easy Rider and PUMA Army Trainer. Each of the products from the pack is a navy and cream colourway, which forms part of the story.
Pricing for these sneakers are as follows:
-
Laundry Boys Suede VTG – R2,299
Universal – R2,599
Easy Rider – R2,299
PUMA Army Trainer – R2,499
In addition to the sneaker lineup, PUMA has also included a mix of apparel. These include the Rudolf Dassler Legacy Tee (R1,099), Stripes Tee (R1,199), Jacket (R3,299) and Shorts (R1,899).
