At the end of 2020, PUMA Hoops announced the signing of NBA rookie, LaMelo Ball. In January this year, this partnership lead to the first sneaker collaboration in the form of the MB.01 Signature. Now, having partnered with Adult Swim, the MB.01 has stepped into another dimension with the PUMA Rick and Morty collection.
The new Rick and Morty collection brings with it an exclusive lineup of apparel, accessories and a bold colour variant of the PUMA MB.01 sneaker. Inspired by elements from the show, the apparel includes imagery from items scattered throughout the show. Most prominent of these is the green theme inspired by the portal gun as well as Rick’s spaceship.
There are six pieces of apparel from the collection. This includes the Rick Hoodie (R1,899), Rick Pant (R1,699), Rick and Morty Long-Sleeved Tee (R1,299), Rick and Morty Short-Sleeved Tee (R1,199), Slime Onesie (R2,499) and the Rick and Morty Shorts (R1,599).
However, the standout from the collection is undoubtedly the PUMA MB.01 Rick and Morty sneakers. The MB.01 is LeMelo’s signature PUMA sneaker, which incorporates his personal style. These have been re-imagined in primary neon colours across the upper, midsole and outsole. There are also Rick and Morty custom graphics scattered throughout – something of a mini Easter egg hunt.
While the sneakers feature bold colour choices, there are additional elements added to create an intricate level of detail. This includes elements such as an artistic outline of flames shooting down from the ankle collar, as well as the word “Rare” featured underneath on the rubber sole.
The PUMA MB.01 Rick and Morty limited-edition sneakers will be on sale for R3,199.
The PUMA Rick and Morty collection is available from today, 13 May 2022.
The collection is available online at PUMA.com, as well as in stores. These stores include PUMA Braamfontein, Mall of Africa, V&A Waterfront and Gateway. Additionally, they will also be available from Shesha.
