The PUMA RS range has been a huge success, with a collection spanning the RS-X Tracks, PUMA RS-X Reinvention, PUMA X Scuderia Ferrari, PUMA RS-X Trophies, PUMA RS-0 Optic, and many more. For their latest release, PUMA aims to bring a bit of space-age swagger to the streets with the drop of the PUMA RS 9.8 sneaker pack.
The latest silhouette, as well as the accompanying apparel, is inspired by new frontiers and galaxies, as well as by people who defy societal rules and the laws of physics. The RS 9.8 was designed with aerodynamic simplicity and interplanetary aspirations. The silhouette is a reboot of the 9.8 m/s², which speaks to the approximate speed of the gravitational acceleration near the Earth’s surface. The silhouette is powered with PUMA‘s Running System technology, which adds momentum to a new, fashionable shoe.
The influence of PUMA’s future-retro theme, FUTRO, is based largely on space exploration themes which features bold colours resembling the cosmos. These colours include PUMA White and High-Risk Red for men, as well as PUMA White and Teal Green for women. The sneaker features a textile upper, which has suede and leather overlays. The silhouette has a lightweight PU midsole reinvented to create a unique, space-themed sphere to provide adequate cushioning. The 9.8 also pulls elements from other models within the RS range, including a super comfy sock liner and RS foam.
The PUMA RS 9.8 sneaker is set to drop at a retail price of R1,599 and will be available at PUMA, Sportscene, The Cross Trainer, The Office, Superbalist, Side Step, Jack Lemkus and various other retailers. The sneaker is set to drop on 20 July 2019.
