There are many variants or names for the current trend of ugly sneakers making waves around the world. These names are most famously known as the “dad shoe”, with its chunky design, strange colours, and themes seen throughout the ’90s.
Following on from the successful launch of the PUMA Thunder Spectra a few weeks back, the ‘ugly’ silhouette is back with the PUMA Thunder Electric, claiming its name from the power of lightning, and is available in both male and female variants.
The PUMA Thunder Electric is set to drop in two colourways for men, and an additional colourway for women. The silhouette is inspired by the 90s PUMA running OG style, derived from the past PUMA X McQueen collaboration.
The Electric builds upon the Spectra’s base design, and expands upon the silhouette with an exaggerated look and feel. There is a distinction between the men’s and women’s sneakers.
The men’s Electric features a design reflective of the electrifying power of lightning, with a nubuck leather finish and mesh overlays, hot sparks of colour and flashes of chrome. The men’s Thunder Electric will come in PUMA White/PUMA Black /Mandarine Red and Grey Violet/PUMA/ Black/ Quiet Shade.
The female variant also features the same nubuck leather and mesh overlays, but with a software colour palette of lavender hints and touches of chrome.
The new silhouettes for the PUMA Thunder Electric are set to drop on 21 June 2018 at a retail price of R2,299.
With the original PUMA Thunder Spectra selling out within a few days of its drop, be sure to get your hands on the silhouette early. You can grab a pair at PUMA SELECT, PUMA Sandton, PUMA Rosebank, PUMA Gateway, PUMA V&A Waterfront, X-trend and Shelflife.
