Puma has been changing the sneaker world this past year by providing street culture items to sneakerheads. One key aspect of delivering this promise has been their great collaborations with Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Big Sean, to name a few. For their latest partnership, Puma has teamed up with world-renowned designer Tomas Maier on the PUMA x Tomas Maier Roma 68.
In 1968, Italy won the European Football Championship (the Euros) and Puma issued the Roma 1968 in honour of the Azzurri team. This year, Puma has teamed up with Tomas Maier for a special edition and re-interpretation of the classic sneaker, the Roma 68. Maier is a German-born designer who is the creative director at the Italian luxury lifestyle brand Bottega Veneta. The collaboration between the two celebrates the ease of casual living.
“This shoe collaboration reflects a period of design I enjoy still today as well as a modern, minimalistic approach that I always try to bring to the products in our brand” – Tomas Maier
The Roma 68 is a contemporary interpretation of the classic sneaker, offering minimal design and colour along with Maier’s signature palm tree de-boss. With only 200 pairs been manufactured and made available, it will definitely feature as a collector’s item in years to come. The Puma X Tomas Maeir Roma 68 is available exclusively at Shelflife at a retail price of R2,699.
