Towards the end of 2020, PUMA announced Neymar Jr. as its latest brand ambassador. While collaborations have since focused primarily on football, Neymar has brought his own element of style to the PUMA range. For its latest drop, PUMA has partnered with Neymar for a new PUMA Wild Rider colourway.
The latest addition to the Wild Rider franchise has become Neymar’s favourite sneaker off the pitch. It has been inspired by the movement and motion of a bustle city life. Neymar has been known for pushing himself forward on the field. Because of this, the Wild Rider provides the perfect silhouette for his lifestyle. Having been in the eye for his public appearances, his style draws a lot of attention. The Wild Rider celebrates youth culture and mobility.
Speaking about the sneaker, Neymar had this to say:
“As someone who loves streetwear, I was thrilled when PUMA approached me about being the face of a shoe outside of football. You won’t take the Wild Rider off; I’ve been wearing it non-stop. É o meu favorito!”
The latest colourway brings fresh layers of mixed materials, emphasised through striking colour contrasts. The premium design has the approach of always going forward, further, faster and beyond. This is the PUMA futro design language in action.
It draws on inspiration from the Rider OG, with elements from the 90s track spike to create a new design collage. The upper is crafted in a nylon finish with suede overlays and a leather Formstrip. TPU forms the base for the eyelets, heel and finished off with the signature Rider foam.
Additionally, the progression of the Wild Rider includes unique design elements such as the Formstrip, which flows into the heel pull. This is further evidence of the forward motion the sneaker represents.
The latest colourways for the PUMA Wild Rider will be available from 16 June 2021 in South Africa. This ties in with the youth of the country, celebrating Youth Day.
Available at a retail price of R1,899, the sneaker will also be available in infant (R999) and Junior (R1,499) sizes. It’ll be available online at PUMA.com, and additionally, in stores at PUMA Select, The Cross Trainer, Side Step, sportscene, Shesha, OFFICE London, Superbalist and various other stores. The sneaker will also be available in a women’s variant in a softer colour palette.
