Following two successful drops for the PUMA X FIRST MILE collection, PUMA has onc again teamed up with the sustainable brand extending the range of sneakers and apparel.
While the first two drops focused on its sustainability, the third collection is rooted in cooperative opportunity and human connection. This is a venture that threads people together around a decision to do better.
The First Mile brand has a people-focused network, which aims to strengthen micro-economies. This includes regions such as Taiwan, Haiti, and Honduras. The communities gather plastic bottles to reduce environmental waste, as well as create jobs in the process. The plastic is then sorted, cleaned and shredded. From this process, a sustainable yarn is created for the manufacturing of the PUMA X FIRST MILE products.
For the third PUMA X FIRST MILE collection, the recycled plastics were collected in the Taiwan region. A stronger community, a cleaner planet, from the first mile forward.
The PUMA X FIRST MILE collection features the Fuse XT trainer. It allows wearers to go hard and the gym, while easy on the planet. There are various elements of the silhouette that is manufactured using 100% recycled plastic yarn. This includes the shoelaces, lining, and a footbed cover. The lavender materials on the other hand are crafted from 64% recycled materials.
The upper features abrasion-resistant mesh, which allows for flexibility while also protecting you from wear and tear. In terms of the trainer’s construction, it merges stability and functionality, in keeping with PUMA’s iconic design DNA. Featuring a 4mm drop and wide toe box, the Fuse XT gives wearers a stable stance throughout their workout. The internal midsole provides shock absorption for heavily weighted workouts.
Rounding off the build is the TPU heel clip that offers a boost of support alongside the PUMAGRIP to provide all-purpose traction. This allows for maximum grip during quick agility movements when you need it the most.
The sneaker will drop with a retail price of R2,399.
In terms of apparel, the PUMA X FIRST MILE collection features three items. This includes the Train First Mile SS Tee (899), Train First Mile Woven Utility Jacket (R2,299), as well as the Train First Mile Woven Tapered Pant (R1,799).
Each of the pieces in the collection utilises the yarn made of recycled plastic in sweat-wicking materials. The materials created include the dryCELL and windCELL technologies keeping you dry or protecting you from the harsh elements of weather.
The PUMA x First Mile Fuse XT will be available on PUMA.com, at PUMA stores, Studio 88, Superbalist and selected retailers from 18 March 2021.
