Jeff Green’s stunning Chrome Air Jordan 11 sneakers have blown up Twitter (now x) and Instagram after hitting the courts in his recent game against the Denver Nuggets. You can read all about that here, but we want to focus on this custom variation: the Red Chrome Air Jordan 11 sneakers, perfect for any occasion.
Whether you are getting ready for the festivities this winter, New Year’s Eve, or just your next fantastic pair of sneakers, you would be insane to skip a pair like this. The chrome is so reflective that it could be a mirror, and it is one of the best chrome sneakers I have ever seen. After seeing the beauty of the original sneaker, our excellent designer here at Fortress of Solitude, Brandon Krige, took it upon himself to answer the question, “But what if we added red?”
Starting on the bottom, the outsole of this pair is a deep red that is semi-translucent against the white midsole and has some stunning cross-hatch-like texture. The sole unit is the only part of the sneaker that isn’t smooth, shiny chrome, so it makes sense that our designer would want to use some texture here.
Looking up from the midsole, the entire upper is blanketed in stunning chrome. The lower section of the upper, usually made up of patent leather, is still patent leather on this pair, in a mirror-like silver chrome that travels all the way up the sneaker to the heel and then again up the collar. The lace stay pieces of this sneaker have also been constructed from silver chrome on this pair.
The exciting part about this pair of sneakers is that the upper section, generally made from a mesh or canvas that is much less rigid than the rest of the patent leather lower section, mainly for flexibility, has been consumed with red chrome instead. The red chrome combined with the silver chrome gives the amazingly reflective sneakers a unique look that is both festive, magical, and futuristic all at the same time.
While we would love these sneakers to be official and accurate, they remain a concept for now. We are waiting for confirmation about the pair that Jeff Green was seen wearing, whether they are Player-exclusive sneakers or if we can expect to find these in stores at some point in 2024. Until then, we can hope and dream about these sneakers and beg our designer to give us what we want to see.
