Today, Reebok has announced the debut of its Human Rights Now! collection. The release forms part of a long-term initiative designed to fuel the brand’s mission to inspire human rights and the human movement across the globe.
Back in 1988, the Human Rights Now! was a global tour that spanned six weeks. The benefit concert was used to celebrate and raise awareness for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. On a truly global scale, the concert featured 20 stops, which was made possible in part thanks to the Reebok Foundation.
In 2021, Reebok is once again bringing this platform to the fore. The Reebok Human Rights Now! executes its commitment to stand united against racism through creating a more inclusive environment while also promoting and contributing to Black and LatinX communities. Additionally, Reebok will also be contributing $270,000 to RISE. This is a non-profit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, as well as advocate for social justice and improve race relations.
The collection is also the start of Reebok’s mission to donate $10m over the next five years to benefit these same communities.
The collection features graphics and design elements from the 1988 World Tour. This takes the brand back to its roots. Featured in the collection is a mix of unisex items, including footwear and apparel.
The Reebok Human Rights Now! footwear pack includes the Classic Leather, Club-C and the Workout Plus sneakers. Each of these sneakers is united through the tie-in graphics, including the logo on the heel tab. Additionally, it features the manifesto on the back-end of the tongue. It states: “Let your voice be heard, wear this product with pride. Not just because you support the fight for human rights, but because you have those rights.”
In terms of the apparel, it features vintage wash elements across the collection. The set includes the HRN hoodie, T-shirt, Shorts, Snap-back cap and mask. Each of these features the Human Rights Now! logo.
The Reebok Human Rights Now! collection will drop today, 13 August 2021.
It’ll be available online at Reebok.co.za, as well as in-store in Reebok stores.
