Having been established in 1996, Under Armour is a relatively fresh brand compared to many others. Additionally, the company released their first pair of shoes in 2006. Although fairly late to the game, the brand has built its reputation off sports and training gear and later also started a push into the world of football. Under Armour recently collaborated with female footballer Robyn Moodaly to launch a range of new training gear, including the Under Armour TriBase Reign 5 Training Shoes.

Robyn Moodaly’s Rise Against the Odds

Having fallen in love with football at the tender age of 7, football has become more than just a game for Robyn Moodaly. She moved to Pretoria at the age of 8, which was then followed by moving to America as a scholar, where she continued her rise within the football fraternity.
During her attendance at the University of Pretoria’s High-Performance Centre, she grabbed the attention of South Africa’s women’s national football selectors and was drafted into the U17 team to represent the country. As a result, she was selected for the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, following which, she made her debut for the senior team, Banyana Banyana at only 16 years old. Moodaly proved that age was just a number when you have the skill and talent to compete at the highest levels.
The attacking midfielder has been a mainstay in the Banyana team over the years, having been part of the team to be crowned African Champions at the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. She also joined the team at this year’s World Cup, playing part in their famous victory against Italy to qualify for the round of 16.In
In this Women’s Month, we honour and celebrate South African women in all walks of life. Robyn Moodaly, a proud South African woman in football, has defied plenty of odds throughout her life and her professional career. As such she deserves her spot in the list of South African football greats.

Launching the New Under Armour TriBase Reign 5 Training Shoes

To get the best out of her training programme, Moodaly utilises Under Armour’s range of products to keep her performing at her best. This includes the newly-release Under Armour TriBase Reign 5 Training Shoes.
These trainers feature the UA WARP technology on the upper, which provides great lockdown and durability. This is perfect for any dynamic movements, allowing for flexibility across a wider variety of workouts. Additionally, the heel clip and heel counter add stability and support to the workout underfoot.
Most of the performance, however, lies underneath the foot with the midsole and outsole. The Micro G foam midsole adds dynamism to your workout with responsive cushioning, while the TriBase technology maximises ground contact to promote a natural motion for flexibility and grip. This is especially useful during those power lifts.
Furthermore, the rubber outsole wraps up the sides for added grip, with the abrasion adding resistance for a medial rope grip. Even more grip is provided on the front at the toe box for better floor grip. Lastly, its low-ground build improves power transfer for balance.
In terms of the associated apparel, the training range includes the HG Armour High Print (R999), the Knockout Tank (R599), Pro Short PRNT (R799) and the HG Authentics Long STS (R599). These pieces provide the ultimate in support and flow for all of your workout requirements.

Lead the way with powerful workouts with the Under Armour TriBase Reign 5 Training Shoes.
