Custom sneakers are all the rage at the moment because who wouldn’t want a stunning pair of sneakers that have never been seen before and that you can have looking however you want? John Trottier, a leading designer in the custom sneakers world, has collaborated with Yuang Louis to bring us a stunning pair of Eastern-style-inspired Nike Air Jordan 1 High Lux sneakers called “Lions Dance”.

These stunning sneakers look like something out of an Asian, silken tapestry, with swirls of colours and wispy cloud designs throughout and a smattering of royal, primary colours like reds, blues and yellows.
Starting from the bottom, the sneakers have a stunning stark white outsole and midsole, creating a seamless look that travels up into the rest of the sneakers and is matched by the white laces.
The painted navy-blue canvas mudguard has scattered lighter blue sections that weave themselves into a pattern like wispy clouds, with a motif here. There, that has stunning scales that might be a dragon you would expect to see in Eastern-style paintings. The fabric and pattern are repeated on the collar panelling.

It’s difficult to tell from just the images. Still, a close inspection seems to reveal that the white material of the upper is a stunning reflective material, almost like silk, which covers the mid-foot area and the toe box of the sneakers. The white of the sneakers also continues up onto the tongue of the sneakers.
The silken-type design is continued in red on the lower lace stays. Then in yellow for the upper lace stays, all brought together with the muted yellow decorative stitching that attaches each element and colour of panelling to the upper.
The prominent Nike Swoosh Logo on the sneakers is a stunning crimson red, surrounded by a black rim and stitched with muted yellow decorative stitching. The crimson colour is contrasted by the light blue cloud design embossed into the leather and outlined by darker blue.

The real focal point of the sneakers is the immaculate design on the heel. The whole heel is surrounded by painted and embossed leather, with touches of orange, blue, red, gold, black and even yellow. The stunning design is of a highly-detailed Eastern-style lion puppet that you would see at any Eastern festival, complete with white lips, a colourful toothy maw and flared nostrils that emerge beneath a menacingly furrowed nose bridge.
The design is so detailed that you can see every individual strand of fur that makes up the tan fur of the lion, but nothing is as stunning as the eyes. With black sclera and wide pupils, the lion seems almost ready to pounce, with rings of alternating red and yellow to show this lion’s power.
The sneakers are stunning and are an amazing homage to Eastern culture and the festivals that are held each year. Anyone would be lucky to get their hands on a pair of these immaculate Nike Air Jordan 1 High Lux “Lions Dance” sneakers.
