PUMA continues its Suede 50 campaign, this time celebrating by means of a collaboration with Santa Cruz Skateboards for the Skate Cool range. The PUMA Suede, now in its 50th year, hits the streets, engrossing itself to the skate culture with the assistance of Santa Cruz. The PUMA Suede 50 x Santa Cruz range hits the skater scene with the Skater Cool silhouette.
Santa Cruz Skateboards, known as the oldest skate brand, founded in 1973 enjoying a rich history and also closing in on their 50th anniversary. Established by surfers Rich Novak, Doug Haut and Jay Shuirman in Santa Cruz, California, the brand gained worldwide success thanks to its rad designs and loud graphics. The brand is considered a cultural icon with its “Screaming Hand” logo, designed by Jim Phillips Sr. in 1985. The logo has been embroidered on the side of each heel on the Suede’s upper, creating a vivid contrast between the blue hand against the black suede. The screaming hand merges into PUMA‘s own iconic Formstrip indication of the red sound and adrenaline. The silhouette’s artwork is enveloped in a lush black suede upper atop a more classic-looking gum sole. The PUMA and Santa Cruz logo is featured on the shoe’s tongue.
The PUMA Suede 50 x Santa Cruz Skater Cool silhouette will be available for R2,499 at PUMA Select stores, X-Trend, as well as Shelflife, and is expected to drop on 26 July 2018.
