Is there any other colourway as strongly associated with Jordan Brand as the classic black and red? First used in 1985, the “Bred” colourway quickly gained popularity due to its bold combination of these two striking colours. In fact, the name itself is a combination of the words “black” and “red”, earning it the nickname we’ve all come to know and love. Over the years, the “Bred” colourway has become somewhat iconic and is highly sought after by sneaker enthusiasts and collectors alike. Its timeless appeal and association with Michael Jordan’s historic career have solidified its place as one of the most recognizable and beloved colourways in sneaker history. And this colourway has no rarer version than its “Bred” Air Jordan 1 Satin iteration.

The satin variant of the “Bred” Air Jordan 1 was initially released as an NYC exclusive back in 2016. The limited-edition sneakers were sold at an NYC pop-up for a retail price of $175, with only 501 pairs making their way onto the feet of lucky sneaker enthusiasts. This exclusive release made the “Bred” Air Jordan 1 Satin highly sought after by collectors and sneakerheads, making the market price for a pair skyrocket. However, this exclusive release is now set to return to the Jordan lineup this year. Thankfully, this time around, the “Bred” Air Jordan 1 Satin will be receiving a formal release as a women’s exclusive, making it more accessible to a wider audience.

This October, His Airness Signature Air Jordan 1 sneaker will be released in the same iconic “Bred” colourway, continuing the tradition of this timeless design. However, the leather used for the upper will be replaced with a luxe satin fabric, giving the shoes a modern and elevated look. This new material adds a touch of sophistication to the classic colour combination, making the shoes suitable for casual and formal occasions. The satin fabric also provides a subtle sheen, adding an extra style element to the already iconic design. Thanks to sneaker photographer Andrew Dutton of @ad_sneaks, we get a detailed look at just how stunning this iteration of the shoe actually is. These satin sneakers may be a women’s exclusive, but Dutton clearly proves that the “Bred” Air Jordan 1 Satin look good on any gender.

The “Bred” Air Jordan 1 Satin is set to release in just under two months, with an expected arrival on October 18. The sneakers will be released via Nike SNKRS and select retailers for a retail price of $180. With their sleek satin construction and classic black and red colour scheme, these sneakers are sure to fly off the shelves once they hit stores.

Whether the satin fabric will hold up against the wear and tear of everyday use remains to be seen. Still, there is no doubt that this luxurious material adds a touch of elegance to the iconic silhouette. A few scuffs and scratches would only add to the overall character and charm of the sneakers. After all, the distressed look has become increasingly popular in the sneaker community.
