Martin aired from 1992 to 1997 and had five seasons in total. The sitcom was both created by Martin Lawrence and had the comedian stand in for the titular role of Martin Payne and a few other characters throughout the series run. Martin Payne was a disc jockey trying to do his best while living with his girlfriend, Gina, in Detroit.
Martin is often regarded as one of the most influential and pivotal sitcoms of all time, and it also made it to the ranks of one of the highest-rated shows on Fox during its run. While the series might be all but forgotten by this generation, the legacy it created will live on forever, and @dope_don_designs’ sneakers are part of that legacy.

The excellent design of these sneakers is a fun take on the logo that people grew to know and love for Martin, sharing the logo’s sharp angles, designs, and colours. Starting from the bottom, we see a crisp white outsole contrasted by a stark black midsole. This black and white theme is repeated several times throughout the sneakers, including the laces, which are white with black tips; the lining and inner, which is white; and the tongue of the sneakers, which is black with a black and white tongue label.

The rest of the sneaker is a kaleidoscope of colours, including purple, black, grey, red, yellow, blue, and hints of white. The base of the sneakers is a stunningly deep and royal purple. In contrast, the overlays that blanket the rest of the sneakers are multicoloured and patterned.
The patterned overlay mirrors the colours seen in the logo from the mudguard, making its way through the lace unit, wrapping around the heel, and trimming the end of the tongue of the sneakers.
The Nike Swoosh logo is a stark white to match the lining and most of the Martin logo, sporting the white triangles that top the Martin logo.

The sharp patterns and details throughout the sneakers are a perfect way to bring in the design inspiration for the sneakers, while the deep colours contrasting the bright hues make the pair eye-catching without being over-the-top and in your face. The sneakers are the perfect way to bring back the legacy of Martin in an attractive way but also subtly enough that it has a vague feeling of “you had to be there” with a wink.
