The Jordan Spizike wants to make a big comeback for Chinese New Year in early 2024. Jordan Brand is set to release its first low-top version of the divisive sneaker and will debut it in the Spring to coincide with the Chinese Year of the Dragon. The Jordan Spizake has been largely absent these last few years but will return in numerous colourways. One of these will be unveiled in a classic ‘Bred’ colourway for the Jordan Spizike silhouette next year.

The Jordan Spizike had a love-hate relationship with sneakerheads due to the hybrid combination of the shoe. Initially released in 2006, the sneaker features an Air Jordan 3 sole and midsole, Air Jordan 4 “wings,” Air Jordan 5 netting, Air Jordan 6 tongue, and The Air Jordan 20 lasered graphics on the sock liner. Many felt that the hybrid combination was tacky and ripped off other designs. On the other hand, others enjoy the fusion of various sneaker designs.
The Jordan Spizike was created to pay tribute to Michael Jordan’s close relationship with filmmaker Spike Lee during Lee’s Mars Blackmon era. Mars is a fictional character in Spike Lee’s film She’s Gotta Have It. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Blackmon appeared alongside Michael Jordan in Nike/Air Jordan commercials and became well known for using the phrase, “It’s gotta be da shoes.” The ad campaign with Mars has been credited as a landmark in the evolution of sneakers from being a nominal to a massively profitable industry.
The sneaker was meant to be a one-time release, but its popularity after its initial October 2006 release has led to Jordan Brand releasing various colourways, including the Spizike as a Low in 2024.

Jordan Spizike Low ‘Bred’

‘Bred’, the combination of black and red, is one of Air Jordan’s most iconic colourways. The ‘Bred’ Jordan Spizike Low arrives in a colour scheme of black, gym red, cool grey and sail. The shoe is mainly constructed with a monochromatic black leather upper broken by accents of gym red on the toggle, eyelet, heel tab, inner lining and outsole.

The shoe also sees the cool grey detailing of the elephant print mudguard panels on the heel and toe, while the black continues onto the midsole, laces, and tongue tag. The jet-black uppers and midsole allow the juicy gym red to pop out from the rest of the shoe.

The Jordan Spizike Low ‘Bred’ offers a classic, sleek design, making it a must for even the most picky sneaker enthusiast. The dominance of red and black gives the sneaker a timeless appeal and should make the shoe high on the collectors market. ‘Bred’ silhouettes are often the highest-selling models amongst buyers and collectors, making this new low-top Spizike a hot property for next year’s new line.
